Location: Charleston, SC

Description: Registered Nurse – CVPICUSchedule & Shift Details

  • Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Night Shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Alternating Shifts: 4x12s days & 4x12s nights (may alternate within the same week, but no double-backing)
  • Guaranteed Hours: May be canceled one shift per two weeks
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday Rotation: Required

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
  • Certifications:
    • Required: PALS, BLS (MUSC only accepts American Heart Association (AHA) certifications)
    • Preferred: ACLS (AHA)
  • License: South Carolina RN or Multi-State/Compact RN license
  • Preferred Experience: Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD)
  • Floating: Required – May float to NICU, PICU, Pediatric Stepdown
Skills & Competencies

  • Medications: Antiarrhythmics, Continuous Sedation, IV Vasopressors
  • Respiratory Care: Ventilated Patient Care, Chest Tubes, Tracheostomy Care
  • IV Therapy: Central Line Care, Blood Draws
  • Cardiovascular Expertise: Hemodynamic Monitoring, Post-Cardiac Surgery Care, Congenital Heart Disease
  • Renal Support: Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) (preferred)
  • Special Equipment: ECMO, CRRT, Berlin Hearts, HeartMate3, Impella, VAD
  • Work Setting: Pediatric CVICU

  • Patient Demographics: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
  • Daily Census: 26 patients
  • Common Procedures:
    • Cardiac surgeries
    • Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD)
    • Heart transplants
    • ECMO & CRRT therapy
  • Interdisciplinary Support: Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, Pharmacists, Radiology, Social Services

  • Local Radius Rule: 60 miles (Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis at 10% less than posted bill rate)
  • Travel Pairs Not Accepted
  • Pre-Approved Time Off: Maximum 2 requests
  • All RTO Requests Must Be Submitted at Application (Approval based on unit needs)
